Largest Yet #NoKings Protest in Elk Grove Draws Huge Audience - Pictures and Videos
The largest demonstration in Elk Grove's 25-year history.
The third international #NoKings today protest drew record crowds across more than 3,300 localities, including Elk Grove, Calif. With each successive protest against President Donald Trump, starting with the inaugural protest last March, the audience has grown internationally and locally.
Yesterday's Elk Grove protest was organized by the Elk Grove Laguna Indivisible chapter. Indivisible is the national organization created to oppose various policies of the Trump administration which they characterize as anti-democratic.
As with the previous October and June 2025 protests, Elk Grove's event was held on the northeast corner of Laguna Boulevard and Bruceville Road. It is estimated that over 2,000 people participated in the event, which ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The crowds spilled into other corners of the intersection. Passing vehicles honked in support of the demonstrators, many of whom held signs condemning Trump and the administration's various actions.
One featured speaker was Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang, who is challenging fellow Democrat and longtime Congresswoman Doris Matsui for California's 7th Congressional District. Matsui posted a video earlier today showing her participation at a Washington, D.C. event.
Other speakers included workers from Elk Grove's Sky River casino, who are in a pitched battle with the casino's owners, the Wilton Rancheria tribe, over wages and working conditions, following a union vote promised under their state gaming compact. Even though 60 percent of Sky River's non-exempt employees have signed union cards with United Here Local 49, the Wilton Rancheria has stalled the vote.
Today's crowd is believed to be the largest ever demonstration in Elk Grove's 25-year history. Two members of the Elk Grove City Council, Sergio Robles and Darren Suen, were seen in the audience but were not featured speakers.
