Yes on 50's Timely Mailer - 'There's Only One Crown in the USA!
Tying the unpopularity of Mr. Trump with California Democratic voters to a yes on 50 vote has been a consistent argument.
On Friday, many California voters received a mailer from a Yes on Proposition 50 advocacy group. Coincidental or not, the mailer arrived one day before the nationwide "No Kings" protest, which reportedly drew over seven million participants in over 2,600 communities.
The mailer, titled "There's Only One Crown in the USA, " shows an artistic rendering of the Statue of Liberty. The mailer urges voters to vote yes on Proposition 50, saying it "fights back against Trump's illegal attacks, arrests, and outrages. "
On the address side, the mailer takes a direct shot at President Donald Trump. Presenting an image of Trump wearing a crown, the mailer says, "He's only a king if you bend the knee. "
Tying the unpopularity of Mr. Trump with California Democratic voters to a yes on 50 vote has been a consistent argument. The No on Proposition 50 has not used Mr. Trump's support in its television commercials, and with the one mailer distributed about a month ago, has abandoned efforts to reach Democratic voters.
Given the expense of polling in a non-election year in a market as large as California, surveys have been limited. A September Emerson College poll, which has been widely cited, showed about 54 percent of likely voters in support of the Congressional redistricting effort initiated by California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
More recently, there have been reports showing Yes on 50 leading by a 56 to 36 percent margin, with 10 percent undecided. Despite that lead, no proponents have expressed confidence that their side will prevail.
