VIDEO Transgender Day of Visibility Speakers Steal Spotlight at Elk Grove State of the City Address

While Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen delivered a prototypical state of the city address this morning at District56, the highlight of the meeting was public comments. The comments, from three speakers in particular, following the address, focused on the transgender community.

During her 30-minute presentation, Singh-Allen acknowledged that today, March 31, is the Transgender Day of Visibility and issued a proclamation. As part of the acknowledgment, the mayor presented the proclamation to Dr. Tristan Buzzini.

After the speech and intermission, the meeting reconvened. The only remaining business was public comments.

The first speaker was Elk Grove resident Beth Bourne, who stood before the meeting with posters highlighting books about transgender issues available in Elk Grove Unified Public Schools. In her statements, Ms. Bourne spoke about gender transformation for children. Her entire commentary is in the first video below.

Responding to Ms. Bourne's comments were Dr. Buzzini, whose transition was included in Bourne's commentary. Another speaker who identified as a transitioning male-to-female, while not addressing Bourne directly, made a plea of acceptance. Those two comments are the second and third videos below.

As for Singh-Allen's speech, it was a typical state of any government speech that you would hear from any POTUS on down to the mayor of Anytown USA. Lots of platitudes with nothing of substance or significance.
