On Wednesday, August 13, the Elk Grove City Council held its 14th meeting of 2025. The meeting lasted one hour and 20 minutes.

A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to public comments on non-agenda items. Some of the speakers discussed the importance of preserving Elk Grove's designated rural area, and many bus drivers from the Elk Grove School District urged the city to use its influence with the Elk Grove Unified School District as they seek competitive wages.

The mayor and city council also received an update on their priority projects, as well as a public outreach effort to discuss the establishment of a permanent homeless shelter in 2028 at a to-be-determined site.

Check back tomorrow for in-depth reports on the proceedings.
