History repeats itself for Donald Trump, at least when it comes to his rallies.

During his failed 2020 reelection bid, Trump famously held a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Even though it was held during the COVID-19 pandemic, the expected attendance was so huge, as Mr. Trump would say, that outdoor facilities were prepared.A funny thing happened, though.

Reportedly, American youth on TikTok trolled Trump by requesting tickets that they never intended to use. As reported by CBS News in June 2020, TikTok users requested tickets they never intended to use.

The Trump campaign claimed they received 1 million ticket requests. On the day of the rally, with additional outdoor facilities prepared, only 6,200 people showed up. The auditorium can seat over 19,000 people.

The Lincoln Project famously trolled Trump as seen in the third video below.

The same thing happened in the last few days with Saturday's taxpayer-paid birthday parade for Trump. Numerous reports noted that the attendance was less than capacity, and those who showed up left early.

The threat of rainy weather obviously didn't help, but according to a report on Indy100, TikTok users were spreading word to request tickets without any intention of attending. TikTok user @Amyy.eats produced a 6-second video advising viewers that tickets can be requested.

The segment went viral and and according to Indy100, had over three million views (first video below).

The image at the top of the page appeared in a Forbes story about Trump trolling. It just wasn't TikTok that got in on the act.

The second video below was one of scores of Instagram posts encouraging the trolling of the president's parade.

With Trump in office for less than six months, it will be noteworthy to see if his administration changes ticketing requirements for the rest of his term. As one Elk Grove News reader has long said, and this is especially true for Trump, who dishes it out, he has to hate this humiliating embarrassment and ridicule.

Of course, Trump may now retaliate against TikTok and push for its ban in the United States. But if there is one thing we have learned about social media, love it or loath it, people will find ways to use it to troll the thin-skinned, orange man.

So, until our dictatorial wannabe president bans free speech and disappears people for trolling him, don't forget, TACO Trump can dish it out, but he can't take it!
