Even though she is expected to be easily reelected to her fourth two-year term during the November 2026 general election, Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen had a successful year of fundraising. Singh-Allen's fundraising prowess was revealed in her California Form 460 campaign finance disclosure filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk on February 4.

During 2025, Ms. Singh-Allen raised $115,375, with $61,628 coming in the six months ending December 31. After expenses, Singh-Allen entered 2026 with $258,317.

Singh-Allen has one declared opponent, Roger Banos, who has placed campaign advertisements in local newspapers. As of December 31, Mr. Banos has not raised any funds.

Singh-Allen continues raising money even when faced with unfunded challengers as she positions herself for an eventual run for the California Assembly or U.S. Congress. If Doris Matsui, who is 81 and facing a viable threat from Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang, is reelected this year to an 11th term, it is rumored that this will be her last term.

Not coincidentally, Singh-Allen, who was Republican, has been cozying up to Ms. Matsui in hopes of earning an eventual endorsement.

Should Matsui be reelected and not seek another term in 2028, an open seat would attract many candidates. The same situation is happening in Sacramento's 6th Congressional District, which has 10 candidates, several of whom are viable.

Furthermore, 10th District California Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen has not hidden her desire to run for the 7th Congressional District should Matsui bow out in 2028. Of course, if Vang upsets Matsui, the local dynamic going into 2028 will change.
