Sen. Schiff on Trumpocracy - If We Continue at This Pace, in 4 Years, 'We Will Not Have a Democracy'

During a floor speech in the United States Senate, California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff offered a dire prediction on the future of the 200-plus-year experiment known as the American democracy. The dark forecast was made on Friday, October 10, 2025.

In his 12-minute speech, Schiff, a former United States prosecutor, laid out his arguments in a logical manner as if he were speaking to a jury. The summation of his argument is that if the trends of the first nine months of the second Trump administration continue, American democracy as citizens have come to know it may cease.

Not surprisingly, Schiff is among the many declared enemies of Trump who have been targeted for revenge. Given recent Trump's track record of indictments of former declared enemies, including New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey, Trump's Justice Department minions could seek vengeance on Schiff.

Even though the old saying that a ham sandwich could be indicted probably applies to these acts of vengeance, Trump's attacks on his declared enemies could serve as a chilling effect to those too afraid to tell the king he has no clothing.
