Jury convicts man in Sacramento robbery spree; faces up to 85 years to life
A jury convicted Sandra Alvina Martinez of three counts of robbery and found an allegation that a firearm was used to be true
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man accused of committing three robberies over a one-month period in 2024 has been convicted and could face up to 85 years to life in prison, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
A jury convicted Sandra Alvina Martinez of three counts of robbery and found an allegation that a firearm was used to be true. Jurors also found true allegations that Martinez had two prior strike convictions for carjacking, according to prosecutors.
The robberies occurred between Sept. 25 and Oct. 28, 2024.
Prosecutors said the first robbery happened at a 7-Eleven on Watt Avenue. Martinez was found the following day in the same vehicle and with the same mask, T-shirt and gloves used during the robbery, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Martinez was also wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time. Data from the device placed him at the 7-Eleven around the time of the robbery, prosecutors said.
The second robbery happened at a doughnut shop on Del Paso Boulevard. Prosecutors said Martinez told a victim he had a gun and demanded money.
Martinez later returned to the same business and robbed a third victim, this time pointing a firearm at the victim, according to prosecutors.
Martinez faces a maximum sentence of 85 years to life in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Helena Gweon in Department 13B.
