Sacramento County coroner seeks help identifying man found in American River

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a man found dead in the American River on Sept. 13.

Two people passing by found the man, according to a county announcement released Thursday, Sept. 17. There were no signs of trauma, and the cause and manner of death remain pending toxicology and other test results.
The man is believed to have been between 20 and 40 years old. The coroner’s office described him as possibly Hispanic or Asian, or of mixed race. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 175 pounds.
He had brown eyes, long, straight black hair and a black mustache, beard and goatee. Officials reported no identifying marks, scars or tattoos.
The man was wearing clothing described as athletic gear. No identification documents were found, and a fingerprint search produced no matches.
The county released an illustration to help identify him. According to the announcement, it was created using artificial intelligence to combine a human-generated sketch with photographs taken after his death.
