Presumed 2026 challenger to Elk Grove Mayor files papers
First known person to announce a challenge to incumbent Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen

With 14 months until the 2026 November general election, one person has filed papers displaying an intention to run for Elk Grove mayor.

Elk Grove resident Roger Banos-Gonzalez has filed a California Form 510 with the Elk Grove City Clerk. The Form 501, a Candidate Intention Statement, was filed on August 20.
Little is known about Banos-Gonzalez; however, he replied to a recent Elk Grove News posting on X. That post shows his X account and outlines a platform.
That platform included items such as safety and economic growth. The posting also says, "Election day is coming - let's build a better future together.
