No outsiders, please: Elk Grove council colleagues put their money behind Robles

With the 90-day countdown to the November election underway, candidates must report certain campaign contributions in near real time. Those disclosures are made on California Form 497 and, for Elk Grove City Council candidates, are filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk.

Today, the city clerk's office disclosed three additional contributions to District 4 Councilman Sergio Robles totaling $5,500.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 340 contributed $2,000.

The other $3,500 came from sources considerably closer to home for the first-term councilman.

Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen contributed $2,500, while District 2 Councilman Rod Brewer gave Robles $1,000.

Singh-Allen and Brewer faced no opposition in their reelection bids and are set to begin new terms in December.

Apparently, Singh-Allen and Brewer are willing to put their money where their council seats are. After all, why risk an interloper joining the Elk Grove City Council and spoiling the comfortable, clubby atmosphere?
