Letterman on Trump - 'He's a Racist, But He's So Much More'

On this edition of Sunday Funnies, we are featuring a video that has been circulating on social media recently. The undated comments from David Letterman are believed to date to 2012, regarding his interactions with then-citizen Donald Trump.

By Letterman's accounts, Trump appeared numerous times on his show, and it was normal for the late-night host to take shots at guests. Letterman stated he goofed Trump about his business practices, his hairdo, and the long red tie that has become one of his trademarks.

"He would always be in his dopey red tie, and I'd say, 'What is that, Donald, a tie or your tongue," Letterman said.

Given Trump's comments recorded with Billy Bush, the sexual assault civil lawsuits, and the accusations surrounding his Jeffrey Epstein links, those comments were prophetic.

The reaction on this social media thread was an interesting read. One of the more profound comments noted:

This is the reason why Trump is where he is ànd can do the trash he does. They keep downplaying his harmful & impactful behavior. We're quite sure most people will not share in the blame for Trump's ascendency in American politics, but there is no escaping the fact that Trump is a product of our society.

Regardless, the video of Letterman's commentary is funny and, in the context of Trump's latest excursion into his overt racism, further reveals what lurks in his heart, if it exists.
