Elk Grove Voter Survey Reveals Heated Mai Vang vs. Doris Matsui CA-7 Race, Possible Push-Poll and AIPAC Questions
Some inquiries tied Democratic Congresswoman Doris Matsui to unpopular policies of President Donald Trump
An Elk Grove News reader shared a text they received in the last two days gauging the battle between Democratic Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang and Congresswoman Doris Matsui in the increasingly heated battle for California's 7th Congressional District.
Vang, whose candidacy is viewed as the only viable threat to Matsui in the June 2 California Primary, is also the first substantial electoral threat Matsui has faced since winning her office in a 2005 special election. Below is a video containing the screenshots of the survey shared by our reader, which appears to be from the Vang campaign.
Along with demographic inquiries, the survey asks respondents for their opinions on topics ranging from California gubernatorial candidates to officeholders like Congressional Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The survey also asks for opinions on topics like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and cryptocurrencies. The funder of the survey, which was conducted by American Directions Research Group, powered by Forsta, was not revealed to respondents.
The survey also included several questions about Matsui, which could be considered classic push-poll tactics. While it is not known whether the follow-up questions were modified based on respondents' party affiliation, some inquiries tied Matsui to unpopular policies of President Trump, which are antithetical to Democratic voters.
