Elk Grove Election Results: Ashby, Nguyen, and Hume Clean Up in Local Primaries

In the excitement the recent California primary elections, Sacramento-area political observers who closely watched the gubernatorial and several congressional races that drew national attention may have overlooked other Elk Grove candidates on the ballot. Those races included the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors position, the state senator, and the assembly member.

On the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Elk Grove is part of District 5. Supervisor Pat Hume was unopposed during this election cycle and will start his second term in January.

Elk Grove's two other representatives, Democrats Sen. Angelique Ashby and Assemb. Stephanie Nguyen came in first place in their contests.

Current tallies have Ms. Ashby at 57,227 votes (63.3 percent), Republican Susan A. Mason at 29,255 (32.4 percent), and Peace and Freedom candidate Linda "L.R." Roberts at 3,972 (4.3 percent). Ashby is seeking her second four-year term representing District 8.

For Assembly District 10, Ms. Nguyen earned 32,637 votes (67.6 percent) in her bid for a third two-year term. The sole competitor was Republican Vinaya Singh, who earned 15,629 votes (32.4 percent).

Asby and Nguyen will face off again in November against Mason and Singh, and are expected to win reelection in the Democratic districts easily.
