Suspect in November Elk Grove Z Town Gastro Pub Shooting Arrested on Federal Charges in Texas

A suspect in a November shooting at an Elk Grove bar that left two people dead has been taken into custody on federal charges in Texas, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. on November 2, 2025, at Z Town Gastro Pub in the 8400 block of Elk Grove Florin Road on the city's far northside.

Responding Elk Grove Police officers found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were taken by fire personnel to a local hospital.

Police later learned a fourth victim had driven themselves to a hospital. One of the hospitalized victims later died, while the remaining two recovered and were discharged.

Detectives identified the suspect as 43-year-old Roderick Randall. Police said they were notified late last week that Randall is being held in Texas on federal charges related to providing false information to federal law enforcement officers.

Elk Grove police and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office are coordinating with federal authorities. After Randall's federal case concludes, he is expected to be extradited to Sacramento County, where he will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on an active warrant for two counts of homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

His booking photo will be released once he is booked, police said.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact the Elk Grove Police Department's communications center at (916) 714-5115.
