Sacramento neighborhood groups to host April 2 CA-7 candidates forum
Mai Vang has publicly challenged Doris Matsui to participate in televised debates, but Matsui has not publicly responded to that request.
Ten Sacramento neighborhood and community associations will co-host a series of candidate forums in April, including a forum for California’s 7th Congressional District race on April 2.
The congressional forum is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Coloma Community Center, 4623 T St., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., according to organizers. The event will be moderated by the League of Women Voters and livestreamed on YouTube.
All certified candidates in the 7th District race have been invited, including incumbent U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui, Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang, Robby Morin, Enayat Nazhat, Ralph Nwobi and Zachariah Wooden.
It is not yet known which candidates have accepted the invitation.
The forum comes as the race between Matsui and Vang continues to draw attention ahead of the June primary. Vang has publicly challenged Matsui to participate in televised debates, but Matsui has not publicly responded to that request.
The April 2 event is one of two forums organized by the neighborhood groups. A second forum, for Sacramento County’s District 1 supervisorial race, is scheduled for April 9 at the same location and time.
Organizers said all candidates in that race — Dr. Flo Cofer, Eric Guerra, Deborah Ortiz and Tim Riley — have confirmed their participation.
The forums are being co-hosted by the Elmhurst, Boulevard Park, East Sacramento, Newton Booth, Oak Park, Pocket-Greenhaven, Sierra Curtis, South Land Park, Southside Park and Tahoe Park neighborhood.
