Richard Pan Enlists Sacramento's Top Law Enforcement Officials as Kevin Kiley Attacks His Crime Record
We predict one or both of the county's top elected law enforcement officials will switch the script
The Sacramento region has two competitive Congressional races in the 6th and 7th districts. CA-07 is unique because it pits two Democrats against each other, while CA-06 features a Democrat and a Republican-turned-independent.

The 6th district candidates are Democrat Dr. Richard Pan and Rep. Kevin Kiley, who currently represents California's 3rd Congressional District. Kiley decided to run for reelection in the 6th District after boundaries were changed following the adoption of Proposition 50.
The well-respected Cook's Political Report and the University of Virginia Center for Politics show the seat as "Solid D" and list it as Likely Democrat, respectively.
Despite these ratings favorable to Pan, Kiley won't go down without a fight. To that end, Kiley is saturating Sacramento TV airwaves with a barrage of attack ads, many of which characterize the former California State Senator as soft on crime.
To counter that TV bombardment, Pan has highlighted endorsements from fellow Democrats and Sacramento County's top elected law enforcement officials: the sheriff and district attorney.
In a social media post, Pan announced that Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper and the District Attorney Thien Ho have endorsed his candidacy. Ho was one of several Democrats in the June primary that saw Pan and Kiley finish in the top two.
Given that Kiley has a commercial featuring former Sacramento County District Attorney Ann Marie Schubert calling Pan soft on crime, don't be surprised to see a TV commercial or maybe a social media post feature Cooper and Ho.
We predict one or both of the county's top elected law enforcement officials will switch the script. They will call Kiley's association with Donald Trump a threat to Democracy, and say his vote for the Big Beautiful Bill has not only endangered local communities but also made the entire country vulnerable to attacks.
But that is just our guess!
