On Tuesday, January 20, Congressman Ami Bera (D - CA 6th) appeared on MSNOW's "The Last Word" to discuss his recent congressional delegation trip to South America (see video).

As part of the visit, which did not include visiting Venezuela, Rep. Bera and the delegation met with Marai Corina Machado (see Facebook post below). Speaking to Lawrence O'Donnell this evening, Bera opined that President Trump's recent favorable comments about Venezuela were motivated by his desire to control the country's ample oil reserves.

"I think he loves that he gets his hands on his oil," Bera said. "That oil has to go back, if it is sold, to the people of Venezuela."
