'No Kings' Protest This Saturday With Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh Allen's Support
The protest will start at 10 am.
Residents from Elk Grove and surrounding areas will gather this Saturday for a "No Kings 2.0" demonstration at the intersection of Bruceville Road and Laguna Boulevard. The event is part of a nationwide movement pushing back against what organizers call former President Donald Trump's "authoritarian power grabs."
The peaceful protest, organized by the grassroots group Indivisible Elk Grove-Laguna, aims to reaffirm democratic principles and the idea that "the power belongs to the people."
The rally will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the DSW store at the busy shopping corridor.
In their press release, the local IndVisible group added, "The demonstration is supported by Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, who shares the community's commitment to democratic values."
The event builds on the original "No Kings 1.0" demonstration held June 14, which organizers say drew more than five million participants across all 50 states.
"This is about standing up for the foundational idea that America has no kings," organizers said in a statement. "We reject authoritarianism in all forms."
As in the June event, protesters are expected to carry signs and banners promoting nonviolence and democratic values. Organizers emphasized that all attendees are expected to remain peaceful, de-escalate potential conflicts, and leave weapons at home — even those that are legally permitted.
The Elk Grove event is one of several planned nationwide under the "No Kings" banner, a movement its supporters describe as a broad, nonpartisan effort to safeguard democratic norms and resist efforts to consolidate power in the executive branch.
