Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen's Sales Tax Oversight Committee to Meet
The committee's independence is questionable
The Measure E Citizens' Oversight Committee is scheduled to meet next week to review the city's sales tax expenditures. The meeting will take place Monday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 8400 Laguna Palms Way.
The seven-member volunteer committee is tasked with reviewing how funds from Measure E, Elk Grove's general sales tax, are managed. According to city officials, the group's responsibilities include examining annual independent financial audits, reviewing revenue and expenditure reports, and evaluating proposed budgets to ensure spending aligns with community priorities.
However, the committee's independence is questionable, given that all members were hand-selected by Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen. The mayor has been described as a transactional politician in the same mold as President Donald Trump.
Following Monday's meeting is open to the public.
