With the adoption of voter-approved Proposition 50, which was validated yesterday by the U.S. Supreme Court, Congressman Ami Bera (D - CA 6th) decided to switch districts and seek reelection in the newly configured 3rd California Congressional District. That switch opened the 6th District, leading to a crowded field for the California June 2026 primary.

Among the high-profile Democratic candidates are Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho and former State Senator and Assemblymember, Dr. Richard Pan. Not surprisingly, given their status as current or former officeholders, they have led the 10-candidate field in fundraising.

According to a filing with the Federal Election Commission, for the quarter ending December 31, 2025, Mr. Ho led fundraising, bringing in $377,199, and had $330,160.57 in cash after expenses. Pan reported $317,976 in contributions and $128,696 in on-hand cash after expenses.

The other Democratic candidate with robust fundraising is Lauren Babb Tomlinson, who raised $162,273 and has $139,763. While Ms. Tomlinson does not have the visibility of Ho or Pan, she has secured endorsements from a current California Assemblymember and a member of Congress.

Among the Republicans reporting for the 6th District fundraising were Raymond Riehle and Christina Bish. Mr. Riehle generated $90,180 but has only $15,701 on hand, while Ms. Bish generated $58,592 and has $38,723 on hand.

The entire candidate fundraising total is shown in the image below.
