Elk Grove Paint the Grove Mural Festival 2026 Transforms Historic Main Street into Open-Air Art Gallery
A guided Walking Mural Tour on June 6 will offer residents and visitors a closer look at the completed works
In Elk Grove, the inaugural Paint the Grove mural festival is set to transform Historic Main Street into a vibrant open-air gallery, positioning public art, murals, and cultural tourism in Elk Grove as powerful tools for economic development and community revitalization.
Presented in partnership with Talking Walls, this six-day event from June 1–6 will bring nationally recognized muralists and local artists together to create large-scale works that celebrate creativity, placemaking, and the city’s evolving identity.
Stretching along Historic Main Street—from Elk Grove Florin Road to Waterman Road—the festival corridor will become a canvas where blank walls are reimagined as bold expressions of culture and community.
The festival’s partnership with Talking Walls, a nationally acclaimed mural curation group, signals a deliberate effort to elevate the caliber of public art in Elk Grove. By blending professional muralists with emerging local talent, the event aims to create a diverse and cohesive collection of works that reflect both global influences and local stories.
Beyond the murals themselves, Paint the Grove is designed as a community experience. A guided Walking Mural Tour on June 6 will offer residents and visitors a closer look at the completed works, along with insights into each artist’s techniques, creative process, and inspiration. The tour provides a rare opportunity to view the murals not just as standalone pieces, but as part of a curated narrative unfolding across the district.
Later that same day, Old Town Plaza will host a Local Artist Battle, a live art competition where creators will produce original works in real time. The event blends performance and visual art, with a live DJ, food trucks, and booths from local artists and arts organizations adding to the festival atmosphere.
A panel of judges will award top honors, while attendees will cast votes for a People’s Choice winner—ensuring the community plays a direct role in recognizing artistic talent.
