Elk Grove negotiating for Property Adjacent to City Hall, Police Department
Possible permanent homeless shelter site?
The agenda for the Elk Grove City Council’s closed session on Wednesday, December 9, shows the city is in negotiations for property that is adjacent to the Elk Grove Police Department and city hall facilities.
The property is located at 9370 Studio Court. The building is located directly behind the Elk Grove Police Department.
The closed session agenda states that the property is negotiating the purchase of the property with Richard Samra, Studio Court Partners LP. According to the Sacramento County Assessor Map, the single-level 20,0000 sq. ft. property has an assessed value of $3.8 million.
The city did not reveal the property’s possible uses should it be purchased, though given its proximity to existing city facilities, it could be for the rapidly expanding municipal workforce. Additionally, the city is currently searching for a permanent homeless shelter site, and given that the space is next to the police department, this location could allay community fears.
