Noted Sacramento-based performance artist David Garibaldi in custody at county jail

An internationally recognized Sacramento-based artist is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail.

David Michael Garibaldi, 40, is being held without eligibility for bail. Garibaldi was booked into the jail on Thursday, August 17.

The information posted says Garibaldi is a “remand rearrest.” No court date appears in the sheriff’s inmate information.

The Sacramento County Superior Court’s website shows no pending criminal case against Garibaldi. Unverified comments on a social media post suggest possible reasons for Garibaldi’s hold.

A fixture on the Sacramento music and art scene, Garibaldi is known for rapidly painting portraits of famous cultural figures while he dances to music. He calls the act “Rhythm and Hue.”

Garibaldi finished fourth in America’s Got Talent in 2012 and has performed worldwide.
