Coroner releases names of victims in Elk Grove fatal accident
The coroner's classification is not a determination of guilt.

The Sacramento Coroner released the names of the two people who perished in a single vehicle accident in Elk Grove on Tuesday, May 13.
The victims were Leiver Leonel Montiel-Munez, 21, and Tamara Gutierrez, 21. Both were Sacramento residents.
Montiel-Munez death was classified as a motor vehicle accident while Gutierrez's death was listed as motor vehicle accident-criminal. A motor vehicle accident is classified as criminal when evidence suggests the accident may have been caused by actions that could be considered criminal offenses, like drunk driving, reckless driving, or other illegal behavior.
The coroner's classification is not a determination of guilt. It's a classification of the manner of death based on the available evidence.
According to Elk Grove Police reports, the vehicle operated by Montiel-Munoz was driving on northbound Waterman Road south of the Elk Grove-Florin Road traffic circle at 5:03 am when he lost control. The vehicle hit a light pole on the east side of the road.
The investigation is ongoing, and Traffic Investigators believe speed was a factor.
