Campaign filings show Rep. Matsui with a massive cash advantage
Campaign finance filings by Congressmember Doris Matsui show she has a massive campaign cash advantage compared to three other candidates vying in the June 2026 California primary for California's 7th Congressional District.
According to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission. Ms. Matsui maintains a cash balance of $617,161. The most recent report covering the first three quarters of 2025, ending September 30, showed that the longtime Sacramento area representative received $152,103 for the quarter.
Among Matsui's notable local contributions during 2025 are the following:
Angelo G. Tsakopoulus (Sacramento area real estate developer) - $1,000
Matthew Keasling (attorney for Summer Villas project) 0 $250
Kevin Nagles (co-owner Sac Republic FC) - $3,500
Barry Broome - $1,000 (see video below)
Roger Dickinson (Sacramento City Council member) - $500
Among the large national entities that have contributed during 2025 are the following:
EchoStar Corp. - $5,000
Employees of Northup Gruman PAC - $5,000
Cox Enterprises - $2,500
Blue Shield of California - $5,000
PG&E Employees PAC - $5,000
WalMart - $1,000
Alexion Pharmaceuticals - $1,000
Array Digital Infrascuture - $5,000
Given that Matsui received most of the contributions before her main opponent, Sacramento City Councilmember and fellow Democrat Mai Vang, announced her candidacy, she will undoubtedly ramp up fundraising efforts in an effort to overwhelm her more spirited opponent.
