As part of every Elk Grove City Council meeting, City Manager Jason Behrmann provides an administrative report. An example of his most recent report can be viewed in the video below.

A review of Behrmann's May 28 report had the following entries regarding the city-sponsored Project Elevate:

Put another way, after a 13-month negotiation period starting in April 2024, there has been no announced agreement between Elk Grove and El Segundo, Calif.-based CenterCal Properties, LLC. The project is listed on the city's High Priority Project webpage, but there is no recent update.

Undoubtedly, when Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen delivers her State of the City address next week, there will be some glowing mention of the project, especially since the collapse of the Sacramento Zoo project. But will the mayor be in full spin room mode?

Considering that nearby shopping centers, including The Ridge shopping center, are bustling, and The Village is developing rapidly, what does this lengthy negotiation period imply for the groundbreaking of Project Elevate?
