91-year-old woman dies after two-vehicle crash on Bond Road

A 91-year-old woman died Saturday after a two-vehicle collision on Bond Road near Salmon Creek Drive, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

The crash occurred around 2:50 p.m. when a Lincoln Town Car, traveling northbound on Salmon Creek Drive, attempted an illegal U-turn in front of the fire station on Bond Road, police said. As the Town Car entered the eastbound lanes of Bond Road, it was struck on the driver’s side by an approaching Toyota Rav4.

The driver of the Rav4 was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 91-year-old woman whose name has not yet been released, was also transported to a hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash, authorities said. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release her identity.
